Securing Access to Assessments and User Responses

Test Pilot allows you to control access to each assessment with little or no assistance from your technical support staff. You don't need to know how to manage or administer a web server to do it.

The Security Controls in a Test Pilot database permit you to determine just who the web server extension will permit access to the assessments generated. Security can be made as tight as you wish and has been compared favorably to that possible with ordinary paper exams and tests. You may restrict access:

  1. by user id - Specify a list of id's and names of those permitted to access an assessment. Without a listed id, access to your assessment is denied.

  2. by time and date - You may specify a starting and ending time and date for you assessment. Access is denied outside of your specified range.

  3. with time limits - You may specify a time limit for having a user submit their responses. Outside of that limit, user submissions are discarded.

  4. by request count - You may specify that users on the id list may only view a test a specified number of times.

  5. by submission count - You may specify that users on the id list may only submit their responses a specified number of times.

  6. by computer - You may specify the Internet addresses of computer permitted to access your assessment. It is thus possible to restrict access to a particular computer or set of computers. The assistance of your technical support staff may be required in obtaining these addresses.
