You may choose to reorder the questions in your database. The order shown is the order used when assessment evaluations are presented to participants. This provides a consistent format when assessments are randomly generated. However, there is an important consideration. Test Pilot uses each question's unique id in participant responses in order to associate a response with a question. If a question's id is altered, then the relationship between a participant's response and to question to which the response belongs is broken. Therefore, if you choose to reorder your questions, Test Pilot must erase all previously stored responses in order to prevent data integrity problems. Since, reordering is typically done in the test creation process, this restriction is usually not an issue. The process of reordering your questions starts with the following display:
The top pane shows the existing questions in the database. You select from that list by clicking upon the items of interest. Multiple items may be selected by shift-clicking ot command/control-clicking upon the entries. Once a selection is made, click upon the move down button to move those items to the lower pane, representing the new order of questions. If you do not move all questions to the lower pane, when you update, any questions remaining in the upper pane will be added to the end of the lower pane's list in the same order as they appear in the upper pane. You can always start over by clicking the start over button. Note that the question's ids will not change until you click the update button. At that time, the question ids will be altered AND all stored participant responses will be deleted. No responses are deleted until you click upon that update button. That is, you can change your mind at any time up until you click update. Simply click any other Test Pilot option in the left hand control panel to resume editing your test without making any deletions or order changes. |
