Assessment Authors - v4.2 and earlier
Info for v4.3 and later
Up - Administration Next - Indices

To author assessments using Test Pilot, the author must be added to Test Pilot's list of internal authors. Note that assessment indices may not be created until there is at least one authorized author defined.

Each author is assigned a unique id and a password which will be associated with their name and e-mail entires. The fields are defined as follows:

id - this is an arbitrary string of one or more characters; spaces, commas, tabs or nonpriniting characters are not allowed. It is this id which must be entered in security challenges when they appear. When the id appears in the list, clicking on the id will generate an email message to the user using your browser's selected emailer.

On Windows NT/2K/XP servers running IIS, this id must be a valid login account name. This means that all Test Pilot authors must have a valid login accouint when using Test Pilot on Windows servers running IIS.

password - this is an arbitrary string of one or more characters; spaces, commas, tabs or nonpriniting characters are not allowed. It is this password which must be entered in security challenges when they appear.

On Windows NT/2K/XP servers running IIS, Test Pilot will remove this column in fovor of the id's already defined password.

name - this is an arbitrary string of one or more characters; spaces, commas, tabs or nonpriniting characters are not allowed. This name will be associated with the id and listed on reports and links where appropriate.

email - this should be a valid internet e-mail address including an account id, an @ sign and a domain name which together form an email address for the author. It is to this e-mail address that notifications and other messages automaticaly generated by the Test Pilot program will be sent.

New Authors

To define a new author, you'll find a set of empty fields at the bottom of the author table. Enter the appropriate information in those empty fields and click the Update button to add a new author to the list.

Note that assessment indices may not be created until there is at least one authorized author defined.

Changing Author Information

You may not change an author id. However, if you wish to change the password, name or e-mail entries, simply make the changes in the appropriate location and click the Update button.

If you must change an author id, create a new author and delete the old one. Please note that you must reassign ownership of any assessment indices to the new author prior to deleting the original author.

Deleting Authors

To delete an author, click the appropriate select button associated with the author to be deleted, check the enable deletion checkbox and then click the Delete Selected Author button. Please note that you should reassign ownership of any assessment indices to another author prior to deleting an author.
