Test Pilot assessments and assessment indices may be secured from general access with a list of authorized computer internet addresses. This means that unless the participant is using an authorized workstation, they would be prevented from accessing the assessment or assessment index. Assessments may have a private list. Assessment indices may contain shared lists which one or more assessments may share. Finally, Test Pilot administrators may define public computer lists which may be used in any assessment or assessment index in the Test Pilot network. This allows the administrator to maintain, if desired, a set of centralized lists usable by any author.
Public computer lists are created and maintained by the Test Pilot administrator and usable by any author in the Test Pilot network. New Public Computer List To create a new public user list, simply enter a name for the list in the space provided and click the New button. Deleting Public Computer Lists To delete a public user list, click the associated select button, check the enable deletion checkbox and click the Delete Selected Computer List button. Any consumers of the deleted list will have new empty (open access) lists assigned to them. Editing Public Computer Lists Once a list has been created, it will be listed with its title. Clicking on the title will begin the editing process for the list.
The entries are defined as any of the following: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - a standard internet address specifying a single workstation xxx.xxx.xxx - an internet class C subnet address specifying up to 255 workstations xxx.xxx - an internet class B subnet address specifying roughly 65,000 workstations xxx - an internet class A network address specifying several million workstations New Address To define a new address, you'll find an empty field at the bottom of the table. Enter the address information in the field and click the Update Addresses button to add a new address to the list. Changing Address Information If you wish to change an address, simply make the changes in the appropriate location and click the Update Addresses button. Deleting Addresses To delete an address, click the appropriate select button associated with the address to be deleted, check the enable deletion checkbox and then click the Delete Selected Address Entry button. Renaming The List To change a list's name, simply enter a nw title in the space provided and click the Update Addresses button. Importing Addresses You may import a list of addresses from a file stored on the Test Pilot server or from a list pasted into a space provided.
Test Pilot assumes a tab or comma delimited ASCII file or list of addresses, one per line, will be provided. Import from a Field If you paste the address information into the field provided, be sure to click the button to indicate that you are importing from a field and click the Import Addresses button. Import from a File If you are importing from a file, be sure to click the button to indicate that you are importing from a file. For security purposes, Test Pilot imports from files located in the web server's current directory as defined by the URL used to access the administration options. If you used http://SERVER/servlet/TestPilot4/?admin then Test Pilot uses the web server's document root directory. If you were to use the URL http://SERVER/servlet/TestPilot4/tests/joe/?admin Test Pilot will look in the joe subdirectory of the tests directory located in your web server's document root directory. Enter the name of the ASCII file in the selected directory which contains the address information and click the Import Addresses button. |
