(later versions)
Up - Index Management Next - Shared User Lists

The assessment list is where authors can create, delete and otherwise manage assessments. They may also control whether the assessment will appear to participants accessing the index. Below is a typical assessment list display.

Assessments are listed and include a link, which when clicked upon, will take the author to the assessment's management options.

Hide

The hide checkbox controls whether the assessment will be listed for participants accessing the index. To hide an assessment., check its associated hide checkbox and click Update. To show the assessment, uncheck the associated hide checkbox and click Update.

Creating New Assessments

To create a new assessment, enter a valid Test Pilot assessment filename ending in .tp4 in the space provided and click Update. Valid characters include a..z, A..Z and 0..9. Once the assessment is created, it will be listed on the index with a link for easy access to editing and management.

Note that assessments are independently accessible by URL. The filename you choose also defines the URL for accessing the assessment. For instance, if your index was accessed using the URL:

      http://SERVER/tests/joe/index.tpx

and you creates an assessment with a filename of week1.tp4, then it could be accessed independently of the assessment index with the following URL's:

      management access - http://SERVER/tests/joe/week1.tp4?manage

      general access - http://SERVER/tests/joe/week1.tp4

Editing and Managing Existing Assessments

Each assessment listed on the index is linked to its management options. Simply click upon the assessment's name to edit or otherwise manage the assessment. This includes accessing results or scores as well as making updates or changes to the assessment's content.

Duplicating an Existing Assessment

Any assessment on the list may be duplicated in a number of ways. To duplicate an assessment, click its associated select button, enter a new filename for the duplicate copy in the space provided below the Duplicate button and select from the following options:

copying questions - this causes a copy of the original assessment's question bank to be made for the duplicate assessment. Thus any change to any question in the duplicate is independent of any changes made in the original.

sharing questions - this causes the duplicate to share the question bank of the original. Thus, any changes to the questions in one assessment will be reflected in the other assessment.

without any questions - this causes the duplicate to be created with no questions. this is typically used to copy another assessment's look and feel without copying its questions.

copying participant list - this causes a copy of the original assessment's participant list to be made for the duplicate assessment. Thus any change to the participant list in the duplicate is independent of any changes made in the original.

sharing participant list - this causes the duplicate to share the participant list of the original. Thus, any changes to the participant list in one assessment will be reflected in the other assessment. If the list is a private list, it is promoted to a shared list status and will appear on the list of shared user lists.

without any participant list - this causes the duplicate to be created with no participant list. This is typically used to copy another assessment granting open access to the duplicate.

copying computer list - this causes a copy of the original assessment's computer list to be made for the duplicate assessment. Thus any change to the computer list in the duplicate is independent of any changes made in the original.

sharing computer list - this causes the duplicate to share the computer list of the original. Thus, any changes to the computer list in one assessment will be reflected in the other assessment. If the list is a private list, it is promoted to a shared list status and will appear on the list of shared computer lists.

without any computer list - this causes the duplicate to be created with no computer list. This is typically used to copy another assessment granting open access to the duplicate.

Once you have made your selections, click the Duplicate button to perform the operation. The duplicate operation does not duplicate an assessment's submissions. The new duplicate assessment will have no recorded submissions when created.

Deleting Assessment

To delete an assessment, click its associated select button, check the enable deletion checkbox and then click the Delete Selection button. Note that the assessment, any recorded submissions, any private user, workstation or manager lists and any private question banks will be unrecoverably erased as a result of the delete operation.

Importing Test Pilot Version 3 Assessments

If Test Pilot notices any version 3 Test Pilot assessment files in the current web server directory (those ending in .tp3), it will provide a list of them for import into version 4. To import such a test, select it's filename from the provided popup menu, enter a new filename for the assessment ending in .tp4 in the space provided by the Import button and click the Import button.

The import process does not import participant submissions - only the test's questions and definition. It is also a nondestructive process. The version 3 file is not altered in any way. Test Pilot versions 1, 2, 3, and 4 can all coexist on the same web server and operate independently.
