Test Pilot Enterprise Manual |
||||||||||||
Each Test Pilot assessment index and assessment has an associated list of computer workstation addresses which may be used to control access for security purposes. An empty computer list implies open access. The administrator can create and manage public lists which can be used by any index or assessment in the Test Pilot network. Authors may create their own shared lists which can be used by any assessments in their index.
Listed are shared computer lists, public computer lists and the index's local computer list. A Shared Computer List is a list that may be used by any assessment in the assessment index. It is editable by the assessment index's owner and their delegate managers. A Public Computer List is a list maintained by the Test Pilot administrator that can be used by any author in the Test Pilot network for any assessment. It is only editable by the administrator. The index's computer list controls who may access the index's general URL. Creating New Shared Computer Lists To create a new user list, simply enter a name for the list in the space provided and click the New button. Deleting Shared Computer Lists To delete a user list, check the enable deletion checkbox and click the associated Delete button. Any consumers of the deleted list will have new empty (open access) lists assigned to them. You may not delete public lists or the index's local list. Assigning Shared Computer Lists to Assessments To assign a shared compter list to an assessment, simply select an assessment title from the provided list and click the appropriate Assign button. Editing Shared Computer Lists Once a list has been created, it will be listed with its title. Clicking on the title will begin the editing process for the list. First you may export the list by clicking on the Export button if it is offered. Only list owners may export lists. Owners may also rename the list by changing the name and clicking the Rename button.

The entries are defined as any of the following: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - a standard internet address specifying a single workstation xxx.xxx.xxx - an internet class C subnet address specifying up to 255 workstations xxx.xxx - an internet class B subnet address specifying roughly 65,000 workstations xxx - an internet class A network address specifying several million workstations New Address To define a new address, you'll find an empty field at the bottom of the table. Enter the address information in the field and click the New button to add a new address to the list.
Deleting Addresses To delete an address, click on the address to have it shown in the box above, then click the Delete button. Importing Addresses You may import a list of addresses from a file stored on the Test Pilot server or from a list pasted into a space provided.
Test Pilot assumes a tab or comma delimited ASCII file or list of addresses, one per line, will be provided. Yoy may either add to the existing list with the Import button or replace the existing list with the Replace button. Import from a Field If you paste the address information into the field provided, be sure to click the button to indicate that you are importing from a field and click the Import button. Import from a File If you are importing from a file, be sure to click the button to indicate that you are importing from a file. For security purposes, Test Pilot imports from files located in the web server's current directory as defined by the URL used to access the administration options. If you used http://SERVER/servlet/TestPilot4/?admin then Test Pilot uses the web server's document root directory. If you were to use the URL http://SERVER/servlet/TestPilot4/tests/joe/?admin Test Pilot will look in the joe subdirectory of the tests directory located in your web server's document root directory. Enter the name of the ASCII file in the selected directory which contains the address information and click the Import button. |
