Editing Groups
Up - Grouping Questions Next - Reordering Questions

When you click upon a group name in the list of question groups, you are presented with a list of the questions in the assessment's question bank as shown below:

Each question that is a part of the group is checked. To add a question simply check the associated select box and click the update button. When you check a question's select box, it will be added to the end of the question group and this will be indicated by its order entry. That is, to add questions to a group in a particular order, check each question's select box in the order you desire and click the update button.

Each selected question has an associated order number. It is by this number that questions will be presented if random selection is not enabled. To reorder questions, simply adjust the order numbers of the questions and click the update button.

The group name is shown in a box. If you wish, make changes and click the update button to save the new name.

Below the name is a checkbox that allows you to choose whether you wish to have Test Pilot make a random selection. Check the box and enter a number of questions to select and click the update button. Every time Test Pilot generates an assessment using the group a different random selection will be made. Test Pilot uses this live method for random selection; many competing products make a small number of permutations (3 or 4) and rotate between them which is not a true random selection.

Help is Available!

Please note that, at any time while you are editing an assessment, you can click upon the titles of the fields listed for your entries. If you do so, a popup window with an explanation of the items use and features will be shown.

Saving your Changes - Don't Forget to Update

It should be noted that on the editing panels, you will see one or more Update buttons. Whenever you adjust a setting or make changes to any item, you must click an update button to record the changes. You may make multiple changes and then click Update, but if you fail to click the update button, your changes may not be recorded.

The mode popup menu allows you to adjust access to Test Pilot features and trim the detail of the automatically provided assistance for authoring.

  • for beginners - several of Test Pilot's more complicated options are hidden or preset to default values and popup assistance windows automatically appear to aid the user in the assessment authoring process.

  • with assistance - most of Test Pilot's features are shown as controls which may be adjusted. Popup help windows must be manually requested for viewing by clicking upon any feature title.

  • for experts - all of Test Pilot's features are shown as controls which may be adjusted. Help messages are minimized to maximize the number of controls that can be shown in a limited area. Popup help windows may still be manually requested for viewing by clicking upon any feature title.
