Reordering Questions
for Editing -

Back - Editing Groups Up - Grouping Next - Submission Actions

You may choose to reorder the questions in your database.

The order shown is the order used when the assessment is edited and has nothing to do with the order in which questions are presented to participants.

If you wish to modify the order in which questions are presented to participant, you must adjust the order of the questions in each group that is used for generation.

The process of reordering your questions starts with the following display:

The top pane shows the existing questions in the database. You select from that list by clicking upon the items of interest. Multiple items may be selected by shift-clicking ot command/control-clicking upon the entries. Once a selection is made, click upon the move down button to move those items to the lower pane, representing the new order of questions.

If you do not move all questions to the lower pane, when you update, any questions remaining in the upper pane will be added to the end of the lower pane's list in the same order as they appear in the upper pane. You can always start over by clicking the start over button.

Note that the question's ids will not change until you click the update button. At that time, the question ids will be altered. That is, you can change your mind at any time up until you click update. Simply click any other Test Pilot option in the left hand control panel to resume editing your test without making any changes.

Help is Available!

Please note that, at any time while you are editing an assessment, you can click upon the titles of the fields listed for your entries. If you do so, a popup window with an explanation of the items use and features will be shown.

Saving your Changes - Don't Forget to Update

It should be noted that on the editing panels, you will see one or more Update buttons. Whenever you adjust a setting or make changes to any item, you must click an update button to record the changes. You may make multiple changes and then click Update, but if you fail to click the update button, your changes may not be recorded.

The mode popup menu allows you to adjust access to Test Pilot features and trim the detail of the automatically provided assistance for authoring.

  • for beginners - several of Test Pilot's more complicated options are hidden or preset to default values and popup assistance windows automatically appear to aid the user in the assessment authoring process.

  • with assistance - most of Test Pilot's features are shown as controls which may be adjusted. Popup help windows must be manually requested for viewing by clicking upon any feature title.

  • for experts - all of Test Pilot's features are shown as controls which may be adjusted. Help messages are minimized to maximize the number of controls that can be shown in a limited area. Popup help windows may still be manually requested for viewing by clicking upon any feature title.
