• Time Limits - this allows you to specify limits as to when your assessment may be accessed. You may also specify a limit on the amount of time that participants are given to complete an assessment.
  
  
• Attempt Limits - this allows you to limit the number of times that an assessment may be viewed or the number of times participants are permitted to submit responses to your assessment.
  
  
• Authorized Participants - this allows you to specify a list of participant id's and names. Only participants on this list are permitted to access the assessment.
  
  
• Authorized Workstations - this allows you to specify a list of internet addresses representing workstations permitted to access the assessment.

These features combined allow you to specify who may access an assessment, from where and at what time. For example, you could restrict access to a particular computer laboratory at a particular time. With a proctor checking id's at the door, you enjoy the same level of security as a paper-based test.

Attempt Limits

You may limit the number of times a user is permitted to access your assessment in a number of ways. In a typical testing environment, the following limits are usually set to 1.

Request Limit - this limits the number of times a participant may log into or see an assessment. You may optionally specify that this limit only be enforced on a daily basis. That is, for a tutorial you might want your participants to access the tutorial twice a day. This limit requires you to specify a list of authorized participants for your assessment. You may at any time grant an exception to this limit.

Submission Limit - this limits the number of times a participant may submit responses to an assessment. You may optionally specify that this limit only be enforced on a daily basis. That is, for a tutorial you might want your participants to complete the tutorial twice a day. This limit requires you to specify a list of authorized participants for your assessment. You may at any time grant an exception to this limit.

prevent multiple submissions - since Test Pilot can inform users of the correct answers to questions, you may want to prevent users from seeing that information, clicking back in their browser and making changes to their responses. This could happen in cases where you permit multiple submissions. Checking this box will cause Test Pilot to ignore multiple submissions of the same assessment. This particular option does not require the existence of an authorized participant list. The participant's browser must accept cookies for this option to function.

The mode popup menu allows you to adjust access to Test Pilot features and trim the detail of the automatically provided assistance for authoring.
